Privacy and legal
The short version: this site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, shows no ads and loads nothing from third parties. It has no forms and no accounts. Nothing about you is sold, shared or used to track you.
Who runs this site
shaiksajid.in is the personal portfolio of Sajid Shaik, an individual based in India. I am the data controller (in India, the data fiduciary) for this site. For anything about privacy or this page, email shaiksajid.in@gmail.com. That address is also my grievance contact under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
What data is processed, and why
1. Delivering the page. The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web server, Cloudflare has to receive your IP address, browser type, the page you asked for and the time of the request to send the page back and to protect the site from attacks and abuse. I do not use this to identify you, and I do not combine it with anything else. Legal basis: legitimate interest in running a secure website (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). See the Cloudflare privacy policy.
2. Settings saved in your browser. The site stores up to three small values in your browser's local storage so it remembers choices you make:
theme: your Auto, Light or Dark choice.bugbash-best: your best score in the background bug game.bughud-min: whether you collapsed the game's score pill.
These stay on your device and are never sent to me or anyone else. They are not cookies and identify no one. They exist only to provide features you use, which is why no consent banner is needed (EU ePrivacy Directive Article 5(3), UK PECR regulation 6). You can delete them any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.
3. If you email me. I receive your email address, name if you include it, and your message. I use them only to reply and to continue the conversation you started, and I delete them when they are no longer needed for that. My mailbox is hosted by Google (Gmail). Legal basis: steps you asked for, and legitimate interest in answering you (GDPR Article 6(1)(b) and (f)).
4. Fonts, images and the contact card. Fonts, images and the downloadable contact card are served from this site itself. No font service, CDN or embed receives your data. The contact card holds only my own details.
That is the complete list. There are no analytics tools, tracking pixels, social media plugins, advertising, fingerprinting or profiling, and no automated decisions are made about you.
International transfers
Cloudflare and Google may process data outside your country, including in the United States and India. Both rely on recognised safeguards for this, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, the EU to US Data Privacy Framework and its UK and Swiss extensions.
How long data is kept
Server and security logs are kept by Cloudflare for short periods under its own policy. Emails are kept only as long as our conversation needs. Browser settings stay until you clear them.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask me to:
- tell you what personal data I hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct it, delete it, or limit how it is used;
- stop processing it based on legitimate interest (object);
- send it to you or someone else in a portable format;
- withdraw any consent you gave, and nominate someone to act for you.
Email shaiksajid.in@gmail.com and I will respond within 30 days, free of charge. I will never treat you differently for using these rights. These rights come from laws including the EU and UK GDPR, the Swiss FADP, India's DPDP Act, Brazil's LGPD, California's CCPA/CPRA and other US state privacy laws, Canada's PIPEDA, Australia's Privacy Act, Singapore's PDPA, Japan's APPI and South Africa's POPIA. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
For California and other US residents: I do not sell or share personal information, and I do not use it for targeted advertising. Because nothing is tracked, Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals are honoured by default.
Children
This site is meant for professionals and is not directed at children. I do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has emailed me, write to me and I will delete it.
Security
The site is served only over HTTPS, uses strict browser security headers, and has no database or login that could leak.
Links to other sites
This site links to LinkedIn and to the websites of companies and products mentioned. Once you follow a link, that site's own privacy policy applies.
